A new leak has surfaced which gives us an idea of what Samsung's rumored Galaxy Wide Fold might look like. There have been many rumors over the past few months that claimed Samsung is working on an entirely new Galaxy Z Fold device that will have a wider form factor compared to this year's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8.
This device is supposedly going to counter Apple's first foldable iPhone which is expected to have a similarly wide form factor.
Wider Galaxy Z Fold would counter the first iPhone Fold
Little is known about the specifications of this device, only that it will have a wider design which will allow for a better web browsing and video experience when the device is unfolded. The Galaxy Wide Fold is obviously not likely going to be what Samsung calls this device, this is just the moniker that the internet has given it right now.
Earlier rumors have suggested that Samsung is developing this device under the codename H8, and that it may have the model number SM-F971U. AndroidAuthority has posted this animation, ripped from One UI 9 APKs, which depicts app continuity between the cover and foldable display. The aspect ratio is evidently much wider than what we've seen on Galaxy Z Fold models so far.
It's still far from showcasing the actual design of the device, but at least the animation gives us a good idea of what a wider Galaxy Z Fold device may look like. Samsung is reportedly quite optimistic about how this device may perform in the market, expecting to ship over one million units of the phone after launch.
As they say, where there's smoke, there's fire. Samsung may be tightlipped about plans to further expand the Galaxy Z Fold series, but it's difficult to ignore what's coming when the signs are this clear.
